Scoutmaster Moment

Updated: Jul 2

Scout Troop 194 Girls, would like to Congratulate Kennedy on completing National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and Kaitlynn on completing National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE) this week.

Both girls spent the week learning ways to better support our troop and individual scouts. As well as learn skills in presenting, how a troop should run, and practical ways to implement what they learned at the troop and patrol level.

Every scout deserves well trained leadership. We also encourage our adult leaders to take course in leadership and skill development such as Introduction to Leadership skills ( IOLS ) which ASM Lutz, and Committee/Advancement Chair Jessie completed earlier this year.  As well as ASM Parks & ASM Lutz attending Wood Badge. Wood Badge is the ultimate leadership training program for the adult leaders of the Boy Scouts of America (soon to be Scouts America). Similar courses on the corporate side cost thousands of dollars per attendee and may not offer the same depth.

We encourage our youth to challenge themselves and step out of their comfort zone by leading and guiding other scouts. It is important for them to take these types of training to know not only how to lead but how to listen.

When you see Kennedy and Kaitlynn, please ask them what they learned during these course and most importantly watch and observe how they use these new skills to guide others around them.

Troop 194 Girls hope to provide scholarships to our girls in the future to attend these courses. Troop 194 Boys has funds to provide scholarships to scouts so watch and learn from these scouts and consider attending in the future.
